This book introduces readers to General Electric's Evolution Series, the company’s latest achievement in a long and distinguished history of locomotive design. At the heart of the Evolution's success is the GEVO cylinder engine, which produces the same horsepower as the old cylinder FDL while using less fuel and reducing emissions. The American Locomotive Company, also known as Alco, at one time was one of the two preeminent locomotive builders in the country behind only Baldwin Locomotive Works. Of course, this was the days of steam locomotives and while Alco would eventually build more t locomotives (most of which were steamers) its success in the diesel era.

EMD "SD40/SD" Diesel Locomotives The Electro-Motive Division's SD40 and SD have become icons, even in their own time! So successful was the series that one can spot them virtually any place on practically any given train (Class Is included), even today, nearly 30 years after the last SD rolled off of the assembly line! The American Locomotive Company (often shortened to ALCO, ALCo or Alco) was an American manufacturer of locomotives, diesel generators, steel and company was formed in by the merger of Schenectady Locomotive Engine Manufactory of Schenectady, New York, with seven smaller locomotive American Locomotive Automobile Company subsidiary Founded: in Schenectady, New York, United States.

The Evolution Series is a line of diesel locomotives built by GE Transportation Systems, initially designed to meet the U.S. EPA's Tier 2 locomotive emissions standards that took effect in The first pre-production units were built in Builder: General Electric Transportation. 1 EVOLUTION. Dated Beautiful book and binding but when I went to take pictures and turn the pages-the pages started falling out. It's still in perfect shape but it needs re-glued. I don't know if you were to take it to a printing Co. if they could re-glue it?.
